Sträckläste en mycket elegant och tilltalande bok över helgen som gick. Gjorde en reflektion om boken på LinkedIn och delar med mina vänner här på Write4Joy (på engelska).
Hi from a sunny and wintery stunning Stockholm. I read “Tiny Experiments” by Anne-Laure Le Cunff, PhD over the weekend and spent some time to go through passages that I marked for deeper reading. I am so pleased to find a book that really touches me to the core and make me reflect (and start rethink) how I approach learning, growth, and setting goals. Bear in mind that I am 60+ years young and have read gazillions of books over the years. This one stick out in its simple elegance.
The author challenges core beliefs and some of my models that I have developed over the course of many decades. “Challenges” is not the ultimate word really. A more accurate description would be that the book is opening hidden closets from within. Doors that have been partly closed since childhood.
In four clear sections, the author makes a neuroscience backed case for letting go of linear thinking and labelling things in terms of “success” and “failure” and lean more on the explorer’s mindset. The first part is “PACT” and grounds the reader to commit to curiosity. The second part is “ACT” and help the reader practice mindful productivity. The third section is “REACT” and shows how to cooperate with uncertainty. The fourt, and final, part is “IMPACT” and it is a shoutout to grow with the world.
The books is a perfekt reminder that growth doesn´t always come from doing more. More often it comes from paying attention, starting small (and progressing with small steps), and allowing ourselves to learn as we go. It even embraces procrastination as something positive.
Sharing a photo of the book 4 days later. There is a perfect Swedish word that is “tummad!” It means something like “dog-eared and worn”. An excellent description of the book (and it will become even more “tummad”).
